Police have detained Douglas County Probate Judge Christina J. Peterson, a Democrat, at a Buckhead club, charging her with felony obstruction of law enforcement officers through threats or violence and simple battery against a police officer.

The circumstances leading to the arrest were not immediately clear, but officials informed local media of an early morning incident at the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge on Peachtree Road.

The Atlanta Police Department confirmed the arrest to Newsweek on Thursday morning but stated that it could not disclose further details.

Peterson is infamous in Georgia for being convicted of “systemic incompetence” and confronting 30 misconduct allegations. The Judicial Qualifications Commission unanimously voted to remove her from office. The charges arose from various incidents, including the disregard of courthouse regulations, mistreatment of staff, and improper social media activity. Peterson’s conduct has garnered considerable attention, with her term characterized by continuous disputes and conflicts within the legal framework.
